Cummins India Foundation

Founded in 1990 as an independent legal entity, the Cummins India Foundation (CIF) channelizes Cummins' commitment toward Corporate Responsibility. All its initiatives, both in the local community and in other parts of India where Cummins operates, align with three key focus areas - Higher Education, Energy and Environment, and Equality of Opportunity.
While various projects undertaken for each of these key focus areas receive financial support from the Foundation, Cummins is also committed to actively involve and participate in its corporate responsibility initiatives.
As a mandate, under Every Employee Every Community initiative (EEEC), every employee is encouraged to dedicate a minimum of four working hours toward any of the projects that fall under any of these three focus areas.
Cummins India Foundation is reviewed by the Steering Committee which comprises senior leaders of the management team as the Board of Trustees.
The Foundation works closely with civic bodies, NGOs, and the communities to achieve the organization's mission of ‘Making people’s lives better by powering a more prosperous world’ with the following goals:
- To develop and deploy innovative, sustainable and scalable solutions, with the potential to be replicated across the communities, in order to make them self-reliant
- To motivate and empower our employees across levels to be engaged in relentlessly improving the communities in order to make them better places to live and work
- To create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration by partnering with our stakeholders to drive community improvement
- To develop a structured approach in identifying and implementing various projects under the three focus areas
Higher Education
At Cummins, we believe that the value of education is fundamental. Our commitment is to bolster higher education opportunities that improve the employability of young people. Addressing the spectrum of needs, from the improvement of education quality at certain institutions to eradicating illiteracy at the societal grassroots, and from making education financially accessible to elevating the vocational and professional standards of training institutes, Cummins is poised to make significant contributions through our intellectual resources.
Energy and Environment
Every organization, large and small, is responsible toward the environment. Sustainable growth for Cummins is one that does not compromise on the environmental impact of its business. Needless to say, it is our mission to remain environmentally sustainable.
Cummins adopts a straightforward but impactful approach to environmental stewardship, engaging in activities such as tree planting, cleansing of water bodies, and conducting public awareness campaigns, all aimed at fostering a cleaner and healthier society.
Equality of Opportunity
Cummins believes in increasing opportunity and equity for the the underprivileged through direct, grassroots engagement in rural development. Our initiatives encompass a broad spectrum of activities — from ensuring water supply to educational institutions, enhancing living standards in homes, to strategically addressing irrigation needs during dry spells.
While a holistic view gives a sense of the organizational ethos, each project by itself is an individual tale of teamwork and triumph.
