Downsizing helps tree trimmer manufacturer reclaim space while reaching new markets

Bandit Industries’ Intimidator^® 20XP track whole tree chipper delivers big performance in a compact, easy-to-maneuver package, making it an ideal solution for forestry professionals who need powerful equipment that’s also practical in the field.

At the heart of the 20XP is the Cummins B6.7 Performance Series engine, chosen for its ability to deliver high horsepower and torque while reducing overall machine size and complexity. Rated at 326 hp / 243 kW, the B6.7 enables Bandit to offer the same robust chipping capability as larger machines, but with improved mobility and ease of transport.

For operators, this means less hassle moving equipment between job sites and more flexibility in tight or remote locations. The engine’s compact design also contributes to easier maintenance and better visibility around the machine.

The integrated aftertreatment system helped us save even more space, making the machine more user-friendly.”

The B6.7 Performance Series engine offers over 30% more torque and 5% more power than its predecessor, giving operators the muscle they need to tackle tough jobs efficiently. Its exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)-free design meets stringent emissions standards using Cummins Single Module™ aftertreatment system, which is up to 40% smaller and 20% lighter than previous systems. This means cleaner operation with less bulk and weight.

Since the engine is dual certified to meet EU Stage V and EPA Tier 4 Final emissions regulations, Bandit Industries has the flexibility to access additional export markets it didn’t have previously.

Packaged as a complete Cummins power unit, the system includes the engine, aftertreatment, cooling pack, air cleaner, engine skid, and exhaust configuration. For forestry applications, Cummins tailored the unit to include options like dual rear engine power take-off (REPTO), enhancing versatility for demanding tasks.
