Cummins Signs Menopause Workplace Pledge

Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) has signed a new pledge to support employees impacted by the menopause.

London, U.K.

The global power leader joins over 2,500 employers that have signed the Wellbeing of Women Menopause Workplace Pledge. This commitment will see a toolkit and guidance provided to staff on how they can support themselves or colleagues experiencing the menopause.

Menopause Workplace Pledge supported initiatives at Cummins include flexible working schedules, increased availability of temperature control and easy access to sanitary products. Cummins will also be providing additional support through its Women’s Empowerment Network resource.

Craig Thomas, Executive Director at Cummins Engine Components, said: “Educating ourselves and others about the impact of menopause on women’s health and wellbeing is a crucial step for employers to ensure women are fully supported and empowered in the workplace. It’s time to break the silence and stigma around menopause in every area of our lives, including work. Signing this pledge also forms an important part of our wider business objective to make Cummins as inclusive as possible for all employees."

At Cummins, Diversity and Inclusion is a core value, where the company, teams and society thrive when everyone is included and respected. Cummins has an unwavering commitment to create stronger environments where everyone belongs.

Laura Gilmore, Sponsor of the Cummins Women’s Empowerment Network in Europe commented: “Signing the Menopause Pledge is a huge step in the right direction and shows how we are supporting women in the workplace. I am excited to see how the Women’s Empowerment Network will enhance this commitment, we have already seen successful events such as Menopause Cafes and webinar sessions held with medical practitioners.”

The Menopause Workplace Pledge is organised by Wellbeing for Women, a charity aimed at saving and changing lives for women, girls and babies. High-profile supporters include Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh and Ambassadors Baroness Karren Brady, Carol Vorderman and Dr Nighat Arif, as well as Caroline Nokes and Carolyn Harris MPs.
